It is CMA’s strong belief that projects should be handled through the pooling of strategic resources together under a single, focused organizational framework, including secretariat services, travel arrangements and hotel accommodations to convention and exhibition facilities, pre- and post-convention tours and accompanying spouses programs.  This has enabled the 15-year-old company to expand both its local and international clientele, including clients in the food and beverage, energy and transport, health and safety, construction and engineering sectors.  CMA’s expertise also includes association management, press communications, specialist travel, event planning and government affairs.  These resources are now available to all of Kellen Company clients seeking to enhance their understanding of Asian Pacific markets and professional services or establish representation in Singapore.

“It is essential for association management firms to offer global solutions to their clients,” said Allison Law, owner of CMA.  “With its infrastructure and expertise, CMA can assist Kellen Company in providing capabilities to associations and NGOs interested in the Singapore and Asian markets.”

Alfons Westgeest, Kellen group vice president responsible for global development added, “Singapore is of importance to the wider reach into the South-East Asia market.  CMA has a local as well as international understanding of the business conduct, culture and connections, which will be valuable to explore for delivering tailor made services to our respective clients.”

NEW YORK, NY (Dec. 10, 2007) To gain more insight into the fastest growing economy in the world, leaders of associations, professional societies and other not-for-profit organizations from across the nation gathered in New York City Thursday for a day-long conference to explore opportunities in China.

Hosted by Kellen Company, a professional services firm, "Entering China: Opportunities and Challenges" encompassed the risks and rewards of doing business in the thriving Chinese economy. (Conference agenda located here.) Global trade, evolving technology, and knowledge exchange have erased international professional borders and organizations are quickly discovering that globalization is key to success. With non-profit organizations representing an estimated economic impact of 10 percent of U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), an increasing number of association leaders are looking to develop their services for China – one of the hottest markets for international expansion.

"As business becomes increasingly global, it’s imperative that associations and not-for-profit leaders recognize the importance of marketing their services and expertise to an international audience," said Peter Rush, Chairman and CEO of Kellen Company from it’s New York office. "Associations have the knowledge and experience to pay a larger role in world. The development of international standards by association and certification programs have the ability to increase product safety and facilitate trade."

China has exploded onto the international business stage in recent years – a growth driven by an abundant labor market, a rapidly growing consumer base and enormous market potential. To comply with World Trade Organization obligations, China has made significant changes to its laws and practices. Trade and professional associations are positioned as a key to the transformation process, and a pathway to important assets of quality standards, education and certification.

Kellen Company manages more than 80 associations through its offices in the U.S., Europe and China. Kellen Company has helped a number of associations globalize in recent years. The company has worked closely with Chinese government officials and regulatory bodies in the management and representation of trade associations. Associations are looking to companies like Kellen for advice how to start in China at an affordable entry level, to manage their foothold or conference, and to monitor legislative and regulatory developments.

Featured conference speakers included Yu Lu, the Secretary General of China Consulting Association and Victor Yuan, Chairman of Horizon Research Consultancy Group. (Speaker biographies located here.) The two experts not only provided an overview of the current association environment yesterday, but also discussed future market trends and how they might impact U.S. based organizations as well as China national associations.

The goal of this conference was to equip attendees – who ranged from executive directors and presidents of non-profit organizations to board members, advisors and business managers – with the knowledge needed to gain successful footing in the China market.

Several speakers shared their own work experiences in China, including business Gene Eckhart, who – as Director of International Operations for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association – assisted members with certification, standardization and other tools necessary to increase exports to China. David Tharp, Executive Director of the International Association for Food Protection, explained the key factors to conference planning and information exchange, including press involvement, organizational issues and exhibitor involvement.

"This was an excellent way for members of the U.S. association community to meet and brainstorm with business leaders from China," said Randy Ma, Manager of Kellen’s Beijing office. "With many of China’s associations now repositioning and establishing new governance and partner relationships, there are a number of opportunities for organizations looking to expand their services and membership base into China."

ATLANTA, GA (August 8, 2007) -- With more than 250 Kellen Company employees and conference sponsors in attendance at its 7th Annual Leadership Conference, the association management company's three-day "Think Innovation" seminar program unveiled new ways to serve existing clients and attract new clients. More than 45 educational sessions were created and presented by Kellen employees during the conference, held August 1-3 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center.

"The ability to grow and realize our goals as a company and as professionals is directly linked to how well we 'create new.'  It's about how we anticipate and embrace change and how we drive innovation to better serve our clients through new processes, service offerings and best practices," said Peter Rush, Kellen Company Chairman and CEO.

All Kellen staff from offices in Atlanta, New York City, Washington, Tucson, Brussels and Beijing joined together in a meeting that was part cross training, part education and part networking. "Today, business is global. At the heart of a professional services firm like Kellen are the people. Face-to-face meetings help build bonds and provide a seamless service offering to our clients," said Alfons Westgeest, Managing Partner of Kellen Europe.

The annual meeting also provided an opportunity for Kellen to exercise its five core values -- integrity, client focus, quality, profitability and fun.  Kicked off by a "Solutions Challenge," conference sessions covered client topics such as leveraging new technologies, maximizing associations' sponsorship revenues, managing antitrust issues and developing board member relationships. Kellen also looked inward with sessions dealing with managing priorities in a dynamic environment, managing people for results and developing global strategies. In addition to getting a 360-degree view of the business, attendees got a 360-degree look at the wonders of the sea at the world’s largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium.

"The Kellen Leadership Conference is unique in two ways.  It’s our own people facilitating the sessions. We know of no other AMC that puts on an annual educational conference for all of their employees. As a result, our clients are better served," said Rick Cristol, Kellen’s President.

True to the theme, Kellen recently named its first Chief Innovation Officer, Tor Holtan, who will oversee implementation of Kellen Best Practices throughout the company, assess and implement improvements in operations, and develop new products and services in marketing, distance learning and conference areas.

"Kellen is an extremely dynamic company," said Randy Ma, Manager of Kellen’s Beijing office. "Meeting colleagues from around the world ensures that we can implement global programs quickly and efficiently."

HARNESSING THE OPPORTUNITIES OF GLOBALIZATION

Kellen Company VP examines impact of a global economy on associations

New York, NY (July 10, 2007) — Recent social, economic and technological developments have led to increasing global connectivity. This impacts associations on many levels—although not all are affected in the same way. A live Webinar from global professional services firm Kellen Company will examine the "shrinking world" phenomenon and help organizations recognize opportunities, determine strategies and measure the impact of their global initiatives.

Participants will learn the various ways that associations can benefit from globalization; the importance of adequate information via market research, surveys, management firms and peer groups; the necessary tools for developing a global strategy; and the possible risks and rewards.

At Kellen, he leads a team of 25 European professionals from 12 nationalities with diverse educational backgrounds. webinar gives Associations  strategies for Building effective programs under the new balance of power in washington

Kellen Company exec examines impact of political changes on association

New York, NY (April 2, 2007) — The political climate has shifted since the Democrats won control of the House and Senate.  Professional and trade association leaders must be aware of the potential ramifications of political changes and determine how to best prepare for them.  A live Webinar from global professional services firm Kellen Company will address exactly what―and whom―association leaders need to know to benefit their members during a change in the majority and beyond.

The Webinar will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 3:00 p.m.  Featured speaker Arthur B. Sackler, senior counsel, government affairs at Kellen Company, will outline the essential building blocks for delivering effective programs amidst changes in legislation and public policy.  Among topics he will explore are: leveraging and building relationships on Capitol Hill; researching legislation and policy preferences important to an organization; identifying the Committees and Subcommittees that will impact industries and professions; and for effectively representing your interests before the U.S. Congress, federal regulatory agencies, the European Union and other legislative and regulatory bodies.

"Association leaders should take the time to learn about newly elected members of Congress and revamped Committee lineups, which could impact―positively or negatively―their issues," says Sackler.  "They need to stay informed to identify potential concerns or opportunities, and should be alert to the need to determine whether action on the Hill or with federal agencies is necessary."

As the former vice president of law and public policy at Time Warner, Mr. Sackler successfully engaged Capitol Hill and numerous federal agencies in a wide variety of legislative and regulatory matters.  He has extensive experience formulating effective strategies at the federal and state levels, as well as strong knowledge of governmental affairs at the international level.  Mr. Sackler has served on various governmental advisory bodies, including as a private sector member of the U.S. delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization Diplomatic Conference, which negotiated digital copyright treaties.

Interested parties may register for the webinar at www.kellencompany.com/webinar_registration.html. Registrants will receive a link to the online presentation and dial-in instructions. The $300 fee is waived for staff, members, and volunteer leaders of trade and professional associations.
